tEACHING STATEMENT

My teaching practice is grounded in the belief that breath is the primary organizer of movement and awareness. I approach the body as an integrated system, where efficient, expressive movement emerges from an ongoing dialogue between the breath and spine. I value learning as an embodied process that unfolds through exploration and reflection. My classes prioritize integration, choice, and adaptability, allowing students to meet the work from their own physical histories and needs. I offer structured prompts and layered tasks that encourage students to listen closely to sensation, make informed decisions, and build sustainable movement practices. My goal is to empower students to recognize their bodies as intelligent systems.

WORKSHOPS

  • The class begins with a guided breath exercise and body scan to center attention and establish an internal rhythm. Participants then move into floor-based explorations influenced by Pilates principles, focusing on spinal articulation, core activation, and how breath supports movement initiation and subtle weight transfers through the pelvis and spine.

As the class progresses, movement transitions to standing exercises that emphasize clear and efficient weight shifting through the feet, pelvis, and torso while traveling through space and changing levels.

Short phrase segments are introduced to practice rhythmic clarity, spatial pathways, and coordinated weight transfer. These segments gradually build and connect, leading to a longer phrase combination that integrates the technical elements explored throughout the class, emphasizing timing, flow, and dynamic movement transitions.

  • Designed specifically for dancers, this workshop explores how Pilates can enhance strength, control, alignment, and injury prevention. Participants will learn targeted exercises that support turnout, core stability, balance, and overall body awareness.

Through a combination of mat-based Pilates and movement integration, dancers will discover how to activate deep stabilizing muscles, increase mobility, and develop efficient movement patterns. This workshop is ideal for dancers of all levels looking to build strength, prevent injuries, and move with greater precision and ease.

  • This workshop is designed to support dancers through yoga practices that enhance flexibility, strength, balance, and body awareness. Participants will explore movement patterns that help release tension, improve mobility, and build stability in key areas such as the hips, hamstrings, back, and shoulders.

Through mindful breathing, dynamic stretching, and strengthening postures, dancers will learn how yoga can complement their training, support recovery, and reduce the risk of injury. This workshop is open to dancers of all levels who want to move with greater ease, control, and connection.
